Soderholm Campbell

Eric Soderholm was a third baseman who played for the Minnesota Twins, Chicago White Sox, Texas Rangers, and New York Yankees from 1971 to 1980. He was on the White Sox for only two and a half years, but made an impact as one of the South Side Hitmen of 1977 when he posted a career high 25 home runs, 67 RBI, 129 hits, 20 doubles, and 77 runs and tied a career high of 3 triples. He also won the AL Comeback Player of the Year Award.

Bill ‘Soup’ Campbell was a pitcher in the MLB from 1973 to 1987 where he played for the Minnesota Twins, Boston Red Sox, Detroit Tigers, Chicago Cubs, Philadelphia Phillies, St. Louis Cardinals and Montreal Expos. He was one of the top relief pitchers in all of baseball in 1976 and 1977 and was elected to the 1977 American League all-star team. He was awarded both AL Fireman of the Year by The Sporting News and Rolaids Relief Man of the Year Award (the first American League winner and first two-time winner of this award) following the 1976 and 1977 campaigns. He is tied for the American League record for wins by a reliever in a single season, as a result of his 17–5 performance in 1976.

Golf Event Format

A unique Ryder Cup Style Format is based on two teams of (13) foursomes, each led by one of our two Celebrity Captains. Foursomes will then be split into two-person teams that will compete against another two-person team in three separate six hole match events as follows:

Holes 1-6: Two-Person Scramble format - Both players hit off the tee and decide on the best shot of the two. Both play 2nd shot from there and then repeat until the ball is holed. One team score is recorded.

Holes 7-12: Modified Better Ball of Pairs - Two-person teams each hitting off the tee, select their best shot and both players playing their ball in from there through the green. Take the best score of the two scores to be recorded as the team score.

Holes 13-18: Two-Person Modified Alternate Shot - Both players hit off the tee and decide on their best shot. Whichever shot they take the opposite player has to play from that spot. This is continued until the ball is holed. One score is then recorded for the team.

Scoring: Points will be awarded for holes won in each match and no points for a hole halved. At the end of the event a two person team score is determined based on points won. Tiebreakers will be defined by the club pro. There will be no handicapping for the tournament.

Awards/Prizes: Prizes will be awarded for top two-person team, top Foursome and recognition of the winning Ryder Cup Team.
